I just came across Marco Vernaschi's work which was sponsored by the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting travel grant. Wonderful work and sponsored by a worthy organization. Is this the future of journalism?

Hi Charlie, thanks for this link.

Marco Vernaschi is one of many wonderful photojournalists that we have the privilege of working with at the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

If you're interested and want to learn more, Marco is one of our journalists featured on our latest Global Gateway, "Fragile States"-- a compilation of multimedia news reporting and interactive projects from around the world.

Check it out here:

Marco also has an upcoming project on the harsh realities of maternal mortality in Guinea-Bissau. Feel free to take a look at his photo slide show, "Dying for Treatment," which was recently featured on the New York Times Lens photoblog.

Thanks for your post, Maura. I informed Marco of my itentions, when I first saw his series way back when.

It's a pleasure to bring attention to great work as it really is an amazing reportage. Kudos to the Pulitzer Center for supporting work like this.
